GhanaSoccernet ·

Bechem United owner Kingsley Osei Bonsu has questioned the appeal of the Ghana Premier League, admitting he would choose El Clásico over a domestic fixture if both matches were being played simultaneously. The veteran football administrator did not hold back in his assessment of the domestic competition, describing it as unattractive and highlighting the need for significant improvements to make it more appealing to supporters.Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Hot 93.9FM, Osei Bonsu said the quality of the local game currently struggles to compete with top European football.âThe local league is not attractive. I would rather watch El Clásico than watch any local match when both are playing,â he said.âWe all know Ghana football in general has deterioratedâ¦So it should come as no surprise if I decide not to watch our local league,â he added. The Ghana Premier League has struggled with several challenges in recent years, including poor stadium attendance, deteriorating playing surfaces, inadequate player welfare and security concerns. These issues have continued to affect the competition's appeal and the overall matchday experience for supporters.
